viruses
* Checks floppy disks for viruses when you insert them into a drive

presence of a virus
When you perform an easy installation of SAM, these automatic
protection features are already turned on.
Here's what you can do with SAM:
* Update virus definitions using your modem
* Scan disks, folders, or files for viruses on demand
* Schedule virus scans to occur at specified times
* Protect applications from being infected by unknown viruses
* Customize SAM to fit your virus-prevention needs

• Startup Disk Builder
If your Macintosh came with a System software CD ROM, it is not necessary to create a Decontamination Disk. In an emergency situation you can start your Macintosh from the CD ROM and use SAM Install #2 Disk to repair any virus infections. See "Decontamination Procedures" in Appendix B of the SAM user manual for more details on safely decontaminating your system.
Remember that Startup Disk Builder should only be used to create System 7 or later Decontamination Disks.
If you have a Performa 400 series computer, use the "Utilities" disk when asked for "Disk Tools" by the Startup Disk Builder program.
If you are using System 7.5.3, you should have two Disk Tools disks (or disk images). If you have a Power Macintosh, a 68K Macintosh with a PowerPC Upgrade Card installed, or one of the 68K Macintosh computers listed below, use the "Disk Tools 2" disk with the Startup Disk Builder program.
PowerBook 150 series computers
PowerBook 190 series computers
Macintosh LC 580
Macintosh LC 630
Macintosh LC 630 DOS
Macintosh Quadra 630 series computers
Macintosh Performa 580 series computers
Macintosh Performa 630 and 640 series computers
If you have 68K Macintosh that is NOT on the list, use "Disk Tools 1" with the Startup Disk Builder program.
